Deck and fence painting and staining across Northwest Arkansas

Deck painting, staining and sealing, fence painting and outdoor wood maintenance with UV-resistant coatings and semi-transparent stains.

Chapter 01

What fails on outdoor wood in Northwest Arkansas

A deck takes the worst of the weather because it faces straight up. Summer sun bleaches the top boards gray, spring storms leave them wet for days, and the freeze-thaw swings of a Northwest Arkansas winter pry at every seam. Paint that was put down over dirty or damp wood lets go first at the board ends and along the rails, where water sits. Stain applied over mildew or old failed finish goes blotchy, dark in one board and pale in the next.

Fences fail in a different way. Long runs in the shade, the kind you see all over the wooded lots in Bella Vista, stay damp and grow mildew on the north face. Pickets in full sun cup and split as one side dries faster than the other. In Bentonville, Rogers and Fayetteville the same fence can look fine from the street and be bare wood at the bottom rail, where the sprinkler and the weed trimmer do their damage.

Most of this is a preparation problem, not a paint problem. That is why a deck that was painted over in a weekend often needs painting again by the next summer, and why homeowners end up spending more fixing a quick job than the careful one would have cost.

How Quality Pro Painting handles decks, fences and porches

Every outdoor wood job starts with cleaning and sanding, because a coating only lasts as long as what it is stuck to. From there it depends on what you want to see. Deck painting uses UV-resistant, quick-drying coatings that hold color and shed water. If you would rather keep the grain, semi-transparent stains add warm color while the wood still shows through, and a sealer behind them keeps moisture out. Fences get sanding, primer where the wood needs it, and a high-quality paint or stain, whichever suits the boards you have.

We use low-VOC paints and stains, which matters on a deck where the family sits and the dog sleeps. The crew works around what is already growing: one customer wrote that the team was very careful with the hydrangeas they had to work around on a power-washed and re-stained front and back porch, and that is how we treat your beds and shrubs too.

Obed Posadas walks the deck or fence with you before any work starts, measures it, and gives you an exact estimate with upfront pricing. If you want to talk it through first, call (479) 966-6381 and describe what you are looking at. Our service list also covers outdoor wood maintenance: cleaning, sanding, sealing and re-coating on a schedule, so the finish never gets to the point of peeling.

Chapter 03

Keeping a finished deck or fence in shape

Horizontal wood wears faster than vertical wood. Deck boards, rails and the tops of fences will show age before the face of a fence does, so those are the places to look each spring. A simple test: sprinkle water on the boards. If it beads, the finish is still working. If it soaks in and darkens the wood within a few seconds, the coating has thinned and it is time to talk about a refresh, before the boards go bare.

Between coats, the best care is boring. Sweep off leaves and pollen so they do not hold moisture against the surface, keep planters off the boards on feet or trays, and trim shrubs back from the fence line so air can move through. In shaded corners, a gentle wash with a soft brush clears early mildew before it gets a hold.

If the wood has already gone gray or the finish is peeling, the fix is still the same sequence of cleaning, sanding and recoating, and it is far better done now than after the boards cup. When the rest of the house needs attention too, we can pair the work with exterior painting or a whole-home plan under residential painting. The estimate request form is the quickest way to start.

They power washed and re-stained our front and back porch.

Obed is amazing. He did amazing work and kept his word. They power washed and re-stained our front and back porch. They did excellent lattice work on the back porch. He runs his company very well. his team went above and beyond for the project and was very careful with our hydrangea flowers that they had to work around. I will be referring my friends to him and using him again when the time comes. Highly recommend Quality Pro Painting.

The prep is the part you do not see.

Sanding stained cedar with a dust-extracted sander keeps the grit out of the air and off your lawn furniture. Porch ceilings get the same attention from a stepladder: the wood has to be smooth and clean before the first coat goes on. Bella Vista homeowners with big decks and Fayetteville homes with older porches both start with this step. For wider exterior work, see exterior painting, or request a free estimate.
